To ensure seated comfort, Charles and Ray Eames suspended a continuous piece of seat-back upholstery between lightweight aluminum side ribs and stretched the upholstery tautly around each end of the frame. This can only be achieved by using premium Italian leather and the result is appropriate firmness with just the right flexibility. The chairs have an adjustable swivel and tilt mechanism.
